For decades I have created and attended altars in my home. In fact, my home resembles exhibit space for World Religions 101 and Anthropology 101. I have altars to Nature, Indigenous Peoples' Spirituality, Yoruba Orisha Spirituality, Buddhism, Hinduism, Aspects of both Christianity and Judaism mixed in everywhere, a Dragon Altar, and Family Altars. Prominent among my altars are my Women's Altars.
By their very nature, Altars accumulate personal decorations and artifacts, and over time these lose their specialness and altars need to be refreshed and refocused to retain their attention and intention.
So it has been with my Women's Altars. This summer I set about reordering and refreshing my three Women's Altars, from bottom to top, and am very pleased with the result. I would like to share with you the results of my efforts, and get you started in building your own.
